Photo Show: Mirage of the Ocean

This week, I announced my first solo photo show in 12 years - Mirage of the Ocean.

The show is 24 prints from my trip to the South Island of New Zealand in January 2024. It was a life-changing trip, and I’m looking forward to sharing it with people.

Why Mirage of the Ocean? It’s a translation of Kā Tiritiri o te Moana, the Maori phrase used to describe the Southern Alps. The Southern Alps stretch north to south across much of the South Island, featuring peaks like Tititea/Mt. Aspiring and Aoraki/Mt. Cook.

It’s easy in this digital age to forget about the power of actual prints. My hope is that these photographs serve as quiet testimonies to the irreplaceable experience of standing before landscapes that dwarf our imagination.

The show is at the Ledyard Gallery, which is part of the Howe Library, the public library in Hanover, NH. It will be up from Nov. 1-Dec. 31, with the opening reception being Nov. 1 from 1-4 pm. You can see the images in the show here.
