The blue pinkgill mushroom is believed to be the only fungus in the world featured on currency. It is found on the New Zealand 50-dollar note.

The Māori name for the mushroom is werewere-kōkako - legend a had it that the kōkako bird rubbed its face against one of the mushrooms, giving it blue wattles.
