The cracks and fissures in the cliff face reminded me of a grandfather’s face. This is a cliff in Milford Sound, called Piopiotahi by the Mãori.

In legend, Milford Sound was formed by an atua (god) called Tu-te-raki-whanoa, who was charged with shaping the coastline. He hacked at the cliffs with his toki (ax) called Te Hamo and carved it from the earth.
