The Rob Roy Glacier hike was one of my favorites on the South Island, and is considered one of the best half-day hikes in New Zealand. The Rob Roy Glacier is a small hanging glacier just nine kilometers south of Mount Aspiring (Tititea), the highest peak in the Mount Aspiring National Park.
We didn’t have time for the complete hike, but even just the first couple of kilometers along the river are spectacular. Mountains all around, flowers bobbing in the breeze, a rushing river - what’s not to like?
