The helicopter rides were a highlight of my New Zealand experience. We saw this peak from the second helicopter ride, which brought us above Milford Sound (Piopiotahi). The contrast of the rugged rocks emerging from the fluffy clouds spoke to me of the endurance the original Polynesian explorers showed reaching New Zealand by canoe in the 1300s.
