There aren’t many times when you want it to rain on a trip, but one is just before you arrive in Milford Sound. Twenty-four hours of rain preceded us on our way into the sound, resulting in booming waterfalls in every direction.
This one is called Stirling Falls (Waimanu) - one of two permanent waterfalls in Milford Sound. With more than 180 days of annual rainfall, its 508-foot drop is well fed.
